Over 1/2 Mile Spinning Upside Down
Descending at 8,000 Feet Per Minute
Category (Basic, Advanced or Extreme): Advanced
NOTE: THIS MANEUVER IS NOT FOR EVERYONE
HOWEVER, THE TAILSLIDE IS ALWAYS AN OPTION ON
ANY MISSION PROFILE IF YOU CHOOSE TO SEE IT
What’s Happening? The Inverted Spin can simply be described as a rapid descent during which the aircraft is in inverted stalled flight (the engine is still running) where the wings are no longer creating sufficient lift to support the weight of the aircraft. The Fighter Combat instructor is in full control at all times and can recover in a matter of seconds. Due to the aerodynamics of the spin, the aircraft is beyond the normal flight operating envelope stabilized in “auto rotation” due to the yaw-roll couple forces that perpetuate this specific flight condition. Let’s watch Laurie from the Copperwynd Resort and Club have some fun with it from this past weekend! (The Copperwynd Resort and Club is a gorgeous vacation hot-spot located right here in the Phoenix Valley at Fountain Hills)
Important Note:Without exception, all mission profiles are “challenge by choice” at Fighter Combat International. We will not put anyone through any maneuver without their expressed permission and expressed desire to do so. Each mission profile follows a building block approach from basic maneuvers working towards the client’s self-determined limitations. The customer chooses, at each stage of the building block process, whether to keep it basic and gentle or to move progressively towards the extreme.
