Air Combat Clip

The cockpit scene you view on this clip is about 1/2 way through an air combat engagement that was initiated with a high-aspect head-on pass at approximately 7,000′ MSL (5,500′ above ground level) with a closing velocity of about 500 miles per hour. In this clip, Eric follows the Fighter Combat instructor pilot’s coaching from a position of slight advantage to a position of effectively employing a lethal gun attack on the adversary aircraft. You don’t have to be a pilot. They teach you everything. It’s the safest environment I’ve ever been in. Great bunch of people. Adventure Only Dreamed About …

Both the aerobatic and combat flights are “experiences” I have dreamed about since I was a child. I was sent to the principle’s office in second grade once because during the pledge of allegiance I would just stare out the windows. They thought there was something wrong with me. Seems I was gazing at the sky through the windows pretending I was flying a WWII fighter.

Special Gift for Friends

Driving back to the hotel, I marveled at just how great the Fighter Combat team is – directing all out air combat, making sure we’re safe, coaching, teaching, and encouraging, monitoring vital signs (“you awake up there?”) and switching cameras for the best coverage, and all the time, making sure they deliver some “hits” and the experience of a lifetime.
